Security

Our hospitals are protected by a comprehensive CCTV system with some 80 cameras positioned both inside and outside the hospitals. Their locations are reviewed whenever any building work is carried out.

All cameras are linked to the Trust's IT system which has enabled the Trust to successfully prosecute people responsible for assaults, thefts or criminal damage on Trust property.

The Trust employs a Local Security Management Specialist (LSMS) as well as security officers. On site police also play a key role in the hospital's security arrangements.

All staff are trained in security awareness to ensure that they can carry out their work in a safe and secure environment and to protect staff, patients, visitors and Trust property.

Patients, visitors and members of the public are urged to report anything suspicious to a member of staff immediately.

Some wards and high risk areas of the hospital are locked for patient safety. Patients and visitors can use the security phone at the ward entrance to gain access. Please do not allow other visitors in to the ward as you enter – ask them to use the security phone.
