Hospital welcomes new Non Executive Director on board

Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Gledhill as a new Non Executive Director.

Non Executive Directors (NEDs) are appointed to the boards of hospitals and play a key role in deciding the future of those with NHS Foundation Trust status, which was granted to the Trust in November 2008.

Martin, 58 years, lives with his wife, Kathryn, in  Hammerwich, South Staffordshire. He brings a wealth of knowledge and business acumen to his new role at the Trust, from more than 25 years working at finance director level.

He started his working life at Philips Electrical Plc on the graduate accountant trainee scheme and spent time with RTZ Corporation Plc and Aga Rayburn Ltd in senior financial management roles. In 1996 he joined Technic Group Plc as Finance Director, before setting up a new company, Technic Tyre Ltd, as Managing Director, in 2000.

For the past four years, he has been Finance Director at Foseco Ltd where he has played a creative and proactive role in the management and development of the foundry business in the UK.

Martin is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a graduate in engineering and management from Loughborough University.

Jim Morrison, Trust Chairman, said: “On behalf of the Trust I would like to welcome Martin on board. We face exciting and challenging times ahead and his financial and commercial expertise and strategic development skills will be of real benefit to us in the years to come.”

Martin was officially appointed by the Trust’s Council of Governors at its meeting on January 19, 2010. His term of office is for three years.
