New intake of nurses for local hospital Trust
24 June 2014

Twenty nurses from Italy have moved to Burton to start new careers with the local hospital Trust.

As part of an ongoing recruitment drive, Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust interviewed and appointed the new nurses in April following the successful recruitment of 19 nurses from Portugal in February. The Trust is also currently advertising jobs for Band 5 and Band 6 nurses in this country to boost its numbers of permanent full-time staff.

Vannessa Rolinson, Learning and Development Manager at the Trust, said: “We carefully selected Italy as a recruitment location because the training that nurses receive in Italy is of a high standard and very similar to the training here in the UK.  The candidates go through a rigorous selection process where their language and nursing skills are tested before they are offered a position.  We are confident that the new nurses will make a really important contribution to high quality patient care and the patient experience here at Burton Hospitals.”

Director of Nursing, Brendan Brown, said: “We are delighted to welcome another cohort of new nurses to the Trust. I’m sure they will settle in well to their new roles at the Trust and life in Burton.”
