Myeloma UK present Queen’s Hospital Haematology team an award for Clinical Service Excellence

Burton’s Queen’s Hospital has been chosen for a recognition award for Clinical Service Excellence in myeloma care.  Myeloma UK is the main charity representing myeloma patients and promoting research and excellence in myeloma care.

To be accredited with a Clinical Service Excellence award the charity assesses the  centre against eight themes of patient care and the centre is required to be Compliant in all eight and Excellent in at least two themes. Burton’s Queen’s Hospital scored Excellent in seven out of the eight themes according to the charity’s report. Our hospital was the 21st hospital in the country to be recognised by Myeloma UK for Clinical Service Excellence in Myeloma care.

Myeloma UK representatives visited Queen’s Hospital Medical Education Centre to award the Trust’s haematology team with a plaque at the Myeloma Patients Support Group, which is chaired by Mr Geoff Foster on Friday 8 September.

Dr Humayun Ahmad, Consultant Haematologist & Lead Cancer Clinician, said: “We are delighted to be chosen for this award by Myeloma UK as it is very rewarding for our team to be recognised for our standards of care and we shall continue to strive for excellence in patient centred care for all our patients”.
