MIU is crowned ‘Public Hero of the Year’
14 February 2017

The Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) was among three nominees to have been shortlisted in the category at Tamworth Round Table’s ‘Spirit of Tamworth Community Awards’.

The annual ceremony honours the excellent work that organisations and individuals carry out across the borough.

The MIU was chosen above the other candidates due to its consistent excellence and longevity of service to the community.

Matron of Sir Robert Peel Community Hospital Phil Hards said he was delighted that the team’s hard work had been recognised.

He added: “We were all thrilled when we found out we had been shortlisted for the ‘Public Hero of the Year’ award and couldn’t believe it when we won it. The whole of the MIU, from domestic staff to reception and nursing staff, work incredibly hard day in, day out. Our patients are our top priority so for the community we serve to recognise us was extremely rewarding.”

Tamworth Round Table is a not-for-profit organisation which supports thousands of local charities and individuals.
