Changes to catering at Queen’s Hospital

Changes to catering at Queen’s Hospital
23 March 2017

HOT snack food will now be available from the Coffee@Queen’s outlet at weekends as part of a number of changes to the catering offering at Burton Hospitals. From Saturday 1 April 2017, a small range of food items, such as breakfast rolls and jacket potatoes, will be available to staff and visitors.

In order to ensure the catering service remains financially sustainable, it has also been necessary to close the restaurant on Saturdays and Sundays as well as half an hour earlier on weekdays. This decision was made after considering the financial implications of running a full catering service and after receiving feedback from staff in December 2016 around eating habits.

Richard Jameson, Catering & Retail Manager, said: “It has been necessary to change the catering offering at Queen’s Hospital to ensure we can continue to meet staff and visitor demand within our financial limits.

“The Coffee@Queen’s outlet will now open from 9.00am daily on Saturdays and Sundays in order to ensure that more people can make use of this option. The new weekend food range will also attract staff discount over the weekend.”

The restaurant area will remain open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with the seating, vending and microwave facilities all remaining available.

The restaurant opening hours from Saturday 1 April 2017 will be:
Breakfast – 8.00am until 10.30am (Mon to Fri)
Lunch – 12.00pm until 2.00pm (Mon to Fri)
Dinner – 5.00pm until 6.30pm (Mon to Fri)

The coffee shop on the ground floor of Queen’s Hospital will be open:
Monday to Friday – 8.00am until 7.30pm
Saturday and Sunday – 9.00am until 7.30pm
Bank Holidays – 12.00pm until 7.30pm
