Governors are local people who have an interest in healthcare and about improving local health services. See a video below developed by the Foundation Trust Network of Governors discussing their role.

The overriding responsibility of the Council of Governors is to hold the NEDs individually and collectively to account for the performance of the Board of Directors and to represent the interest of the FT members and of the public. Further information is available in the FTN publication, Becoming a governor.

Every year the Trust holds elections to appoint Governors to the Council of Governors (COG). The COG is made up of elected and appointed Governors. Elected Governors are elected by the members of each constituency, and appointed Governors are appointed by partner organisations.

If you wish to stand for election, this brief guide provides further details, including the eligibility requirement to stand as a Governor.
