Car parking

Patients and visitors are encouraged to use public transport whenever possible.  Car parking spaces on all sites are limited and cannot be guaranteed. Please allow extra time to park.

Please note that all income raised from car parking charges is retained by the Trust. Once costs have been taken out, any residual income is used to fund front line health care.

An Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system operates at all our hospital sites.  This means you registration number is recorded as soon as you enter the hospital site.

You need to remember, or make a note of, the time you arrived at the car park and the registration number of your car. You can then enter your registration number at one of the machines around the hospital and pay the required fee.

The car parking tariffs are as follows:

  • First 20 minutes - Free
  • Up to 2 hours - £2
  • 2 – 6 hours £3
  • 6 – 24 hours £6

Discounted parking is available for longer periods:

  • Weekly pass (7 days) £8.00
  • Monthly pass (28 days) £25.00

These tickets are not transferrable between sites.  The 7 and 28 day tickets can be purchased at the payment machines in in the same way as the short stay tariffs

Charges are the same across all Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust sites.

If you don't want to wait, or you don't have the correct money on you, you can pay by telephone or via the Internet up to midnight on the day of your visit. Signs around the site and at pay machines will guide you through the system.

The machines do not accept notes or give change. However, change machines are located at all our sites.

Payment machines with Chip and Pin facilities are also available:

  • Queens Hospital locations: A&E, Treatment Centre and Geoffrey Hodges.
  • Sir Robert Peel: Main entrance
  • Samuel Johnson: Main entrance

Please do not park on double yellow lines, restricted areas or outside designated parking bays. Access for emergency vehicles is needed at all times. Parking is monitored and enforced.

ParkingEye manages the car park payment system on behalf of Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Parking Charge Notices will be sent to the homes of registered owners of cars that do not pay the appropriate fee (See parking signs at our hospital sites for more information).

Please be advised that the Trust cannot accept responsibility for any vehicle parked on the site, or its contents. Vehicles are left entirely at the owners’ risk.

Concessions are also available for patients with long term conditions requiring frequent attendance over a lengthy period such as dialysis or chemotherapy.  The department will discuss these concessions with you when you attend your appointment.

Blue badge holders can register with the Trust to receive an extra 30 minutes of free parking.  Please call us on the number below to register.  We will need to know your Blue Badge number.

Anyone with questions or concerns about car parking can contact us on 01283 511511 ext. 5635.

Parking Charges & Appeals

Parking Charges

If you have received a Parking Charge Notice following your visit to any of our sites you will need to contact Parking Eye, our Parking Management Company, directly to pay the charge.

We encourage anyone who feels they have received a Parking Charge Notice unfairly to contact Parking Eye to lodge an appeal.

Parking Charge Notices are issued automatically and until further details have been provided they cannot investigate for you.

Parking Charge Notices have a reduced rate if paid within 14 days.  When an appeal is put in this stops the clock on the 14 day period that the lower price can be paid. Unless an appeal is put in this opportunity will be lost.
