Why become a Member?
As a patient, carer, member of staff or local resident you are eligible to become a Member of Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which would give you a far greater say in the development of Queen’s Hospital and its services.

We urge as many local residents as possible to register as Members of Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to show support for Queen’s Hospital and make sure our services fully represent the needs of the entire local population. We want to be confident that we are taking into account the views of everyone in our area, no matter what their ethnic background, age or gender.
Membership is free and as a Member you will:
- receive regular information about your Trust
- be consulted on plans for future development and have a direct say over the way in which we ensure that service improvements are in the interests of local people.
- be able to vote in elections for Governors and
- stand for election as a Governor (must be age 18 or over).
Become a member
Trust Membership Strategy:
Members do not receive any special treatment as NHS patients and have the same access to NHS services as non members.
Our members are grouped into two constituencies; public and staff.
Public Members
To be eligible for membership:
Public Members must be over 16 and live within the areas covered by the:
- East Staffordshire Borough Council and South Derbyshire District Council
- North West Leicestershire District Council and Lichfield District and Tamworth Borough Councils.
Public constituency areas
- East Staffordshire - based on the East Staffordshire Borough Council area
- South Derbyshire - based on the South Derbyshire District Council area
- North West Leicestershire - based on the North West Leicestershire District Council area
- Lichfield and Tamworth - based on the Lichfield District and Tamworth Borough Councils areas
Staff Members
All existing staff automatically became Members unless they chose to opt out of membership. All staff groups are given an equal opportunity to participate.
To qualify as a staff Member, you must either:
- have a contract of employment that does not have a fixed term, or
- have a contract of employment with a fixed term of at least 12 months, or
- have been employed continuously by our Trust for 12 months, or
- have exercised functions for the purposes of Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for at least a year.
