Pre-op assessment

The Pre-op Assessment Clinic page intends to provide you with information on what patients can expect to happen at their pre-op assessment appointment.

The Pre-op assessment Clinic is located on the 1st Floor in the Out Patients Dept, close to reception A. Pre-op assessment reception is first door on the left as you come out of the lift.

Please book in at this reception area for your appointment. You may also be brought down to the reception to make an appointment for your pre-op assessment after seeing the Consultant in their Clinic if you are put onto the waiting list for surgery, alternatively we will send you an appointment through the post.

The aim of the pre-op assessment is to provide a high quality service to all patients having elective surgery (day case and inpatients). An assessment is taken for each individual patient; the overall aim is to ensure fitness for surgery... You may be asked to go for further investigations such as blood tests, an ECG and X-rays, these results will then be actioned.

All patients will be screened for MRSA prior to their surgery.

You will be provided with the appropriate information and education, and the opportunity to further discuss any information provided by the surgeon. Thus minimizing any anxieties, ensuring you fully understand the forthcoming surgery, and the post-operative recovery.
