The urology department has two clinical nurse specialists, two staff nurses and one HCA. The skills of the urology nursing team are used to run a variety of nurse led clinics.

Nurse led services

  •  Prostate assessment

  • Catheter changes – urethral and suprapubic
  • Intermittent self - catheterisation

Additional services provided by the nurse specialist include:-

  • Cancer key worker supporting patients at the time of diagnosis
  • Attendance at consultant clinics such as haematuria, histology results, oncology and one stop prostate biopsy clinic.
  • The urology nurse specialist is also a core member of the urology MDT

How to obtain an appointment

  • Appointments are initially requested via a consultant urologist
  • Appointments thereafter are booked following individual nurse led clinic visits
  • Additional or urgent appointments can be arranged by contacting the urology nurse directly.

Please note that we do not recommend that patients attend without prior arrangement as there may not be a nurse available to see them due to their daily clinic appointments.
