Profile:

Having graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1987, Mrs Lingam trained in the West of Scotland in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and during that time, took 3 years out of training to train in female urology and general surgery, obtaining the Fellowship in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In her training in gynaecology, she was exposed to a wide range of conditions, developing a special interest ultimately in incontinence, prolapse and minimally invasive surgery.

She has been practising for over 12 years as a Consultant Gynaecologist, seeing a wide range of conditions including, heavy periods, painful periods, irregular bleeding, pelvic pain, painful bladder syndrome, ovarian cyst, fibroids, endometriosis, sexual and vulva problems, prolapse and urinary incontinence. She also runs a Paediatric/Adolescent Gynaecology service where she sees young patients with gynaecology problems. She carries out most common procedures such as endometrial ablation for heavy periods, laparoscopic treatment of fibroids and endometriosis, tension free tape for incontinence, laparoscopic, vaginal and abdominal hysterectomy, pelvic floor repair and treatment of recurrent prolapse and incontinence. 

Her work in urogynaecology was recognised when as Lead Urogynaecologist, her unit in Burton Hospital was awarded National Accreditation in Urogynaecology status, the fifth such Unit in the United Kingdom. It signifies delivery of a high quality of care.
