Burton Hospitals' new staff award scheme. The Trust wants to hear about staff and volunteers who are `Going the Extra Mile' to make a real difference to patients, visitors or other staff.

The question 'How likely is it that you would recommend this service to friends and family?' is helping the Trust learn more about your hospital experience, what we do well and what we should improve. Inpatients and A & E visitors are asked to give an answer within 48 hours of being discharged.

If you become unwell or are injured, choosing the right NHS service means you will be seen quicker, get appropriate treatment and ensure that vital resources are not diverted from the care of emergency patients with life threatening illnesses or injuries.

We will always be approachable and acknowledge that you are there. We will be polite, professional and courteous. We will admit our mistakes and do all we can to put them right. We will talk to each other, so we can care for you better.

We are proud of the volunteers who provide additional support and comfort to our patients and assistance to visitors. More than 200 volunteers currently work across the Trust’s three hospital sites in Burton, Tamworth and Lichfield.

Burton Hospitals are encouraging our staff, patients and the public to be open and honest and to share their stories using the methods outlined on the NHS Choices site.
We welcome the review as it provides us with an opportunity to learn from the feedback and insights offered by others outside of our own organisation. The review will help us to build upon the good work we are already doing at Burton, and help to make further improvements to the quality of patient care, outcomes and experience.
